Life of Dr. Yeshi Dhonden

Dr. Yeshi was born in the Tibetan Year of Fire Rabbit on 15 June, 1927, to a farmer’s family in Hlo-go in Tibet. He has been the personal physician to Dalai Lama (1960-1980). He is a traditional Tibetan Doctor & renowned living authorities of Tibetan Medicine. His parents sent him to a monastery (with 400 monks) at the age of six.
He had exceptional memorization skills because of which he was sent to Men Tsee Khang Medical College in Lhasa, Capital of Tibet. After memorizing the four Medical Tantras, he was trained by the director himself, Dr. Kyen-rab Nor-bu who served as the personal physician to 13th & 14th Dalai Lamas.
In 1951, Dr. Dhonden began his medical practise in his home district. He left Tibet & came to India in 1959, when the Dalai Lama fled from Chinese communists. He was appointed as the personal physician of the Dalai Lama in 1960. He soon started Men Tsee Khang, the tibetan medical college where he served the post of Director & principal teacher till 1979. Dr. Dhonden has been a successful doctor for over 50 years, treating patients with different kinds of issues, especially cancer. He has also given relief to people from Hepatitis, Multiple Sclerosis, Stomach Cancer & Leukemia.

How to get Appointment :
Appointment in this clinic is given through coupons. Line for Coupon Starts at Morning 5 A.M.
Coupon Distribution starts at 10 A.M. Only one person can consult the doctor on one coupon. The appointment is given for the day after 3 days. (For instance, if you are given the token on Sunday then you will get an appointment for Wednesday)

Diagnosis
The doctors here observe the patient before starting the treatment. Diagnosis involves observing the quality of urine, reading the 12 pulses & one on one questions from the patient to assess the patient’s current medical condition.
