Gujarat: DRI’s big action at Mundra port, e-cigarettes worth 48 crores seized Latest Rags

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized e-cigarettes worth Rs 48 crore from the Mundra port in Gujarat. According to the information, informers had already given information about smuggling. After this big action has been taken. The informer had told that the e-cigarette is being brought under cover in the container. After this, as soon as the container reached Mundra Port, the whole game came to the fore.

Investigation revealed that the goods were said to be floor clean mops. During the investigation, one by one, all the boxes inside the container were taken out and opened. During this it came to the fore that the container had some mops as well as hand massage oil, LCD and some boxes. When I picked up the container, it was a little heavier than usual. After this further investigation was done, then the reality came to the fore. Actually the e-cigarette box was hidden at the bottom of the container.

According to the information, there were 251 such cartons, 2 lakh e-cigarettes were kept in 250 boxes. It is being told that these e-cigarettes were made in China. These were flavored cigarettes. E-cigarettes and all other items have been confiscated under the Customs Act. The market value of the seized e-cigarettes has been estimated at Rs 48 crore. Further investigation is on.

This is the second major such action taken by the DRI in Gujarat in recent times. Earlier on September 4, the DRI had seized a consignment of e-cigarettes worth 20 crores market value by stopping a truck near Surat.

The DRI has seized this large consignment of e-cigarettes. Along with this, the matter is being investigated. It is being told that the e-cigarettes seized were flavored with milk, coke, tea, energy drinks and coffee.
