Earlier this month, former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident. A big disclosure has now been made about the place where his Mercedes car accident happened in Palghar, Maharashtra on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. This stretch of 100 km on the highway is proving to be fatal. More than 262 accidents have taken place on this 100 km road since the beginning of this year.

Deadly 100 KM from Thane to Palghar

If we look at the official figures, the 100 km stretch of Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway from Ghodbunder in Thane to Dapchari in Palghar has become like a bloody road. Cyrus Mistry’s car accident is not the first accident to happen here. Rather, there have been 262 road accidents since the beginning of this year. In this 62 people have lost their lives while 192 people have been injured.

Major cause of over speeding accident

Officials say that the driver’s wrong judgment and over speeding are important reasons in many accidents. But poor road maintenance, lack of proper number of sign boards and lack of speed control measures are also major reasons for accidents on this stretch.

Where did Cyrus’ accident happen?

Maharashtra Highway Police officials say that on this highway near Charoti where Cyrus Mistry’s car met with an accident on 4 September. Around the same time, 26 people have died in 25 major accidents since the beginning of this year. At the same time, 25 people have died in 34 accidents on the stretch near Chinchoti. While 11 people have lost their lives in 10 accidents near Manor.

black spot of charoti hai highway

The official said that when a study is done about the accident, it appears that the stretch of about 500 meters leading to Charoti and Mumbai is a black spot on this road. There is a sharp turn on the road before the bridge over the river Surya and the road towards Mumbai gets shortened from three lanes to two lanes.

While there is no effective sign board warning the driver before reaching the bridge, nor is there a speed breaker on the way to reduce the speed. This is the reason that Anahita Pandole, who was driving Cyrus Mistry’s car, was in high speed and then she collided with the divider. In this accident, Cyrus Mistry and his friend Jehangir Pandole were sitting in the back seat and died. While Anahita Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole were in the front seat and suffered serious injuries.

The official said that those who have the work of maintenance of this road, they probably ignored the guidelines of the Indian Road Congress.
